HY-WAT LAB develops studies and projects in the areas of hydraulics, water resources management, impact of climate change on water resources, hydropower, flood risk assessment and mathematical modelling of hydrodynamics and water quality in inland and transitional water systems. Much of the work is based on hydrometric, meteorological and water quality monitoring and the use of hydrodynamic and water quality mathematical models.
The work developed is part of research and university extension projects. The group’s main objective is to assert itself as a reference in the areas in which it develops its activity and is currently committed to increasing the number of projects and the integration of different stakeholders and researchers.

  • Various environmental, civil and geological engineering services in the areas of  hydraulics and hydrology
  • Advanced simulation mathematical modeling
  • Water quality monitoring in rivers, reservoirs and dams
  • Development and management of geographic information systems
  • Study of watersheds, water resources management and water pollution
  • Use of georeferenced mathematical models and satellite images to analyze  atmospheric conditions and floodplains
  • Equipment field work, namely an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), water quality probes (pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrates, phosphates, conductivity), Secchi disks, various cabling and equipment specifically intended for the collection of water samples, both on the surface and in depth
